He Swallowed a What??

Not sure where to begin. Alright it is noon and Courtney is getting ready to take a nap and Cameron had just got in trouble so he needed to go to my room and take a rest. Court just went to bed and Cam is in my room. I sit down at the dining room table to finish some paperwork. All the sudden Cameron comes running down the hall screaming holding his throat, “I swallowed it, I swallowed it.” I said “Cameron what did you swallow?” Cameron, “ I don’t know it was silver metal, I don’t know what it is?” I am at this point going what on earth now. I can not fathom so we keep talking he gets a drink of water and coughs and says I really did I swallowed it. At this point the older boys know what he swallowed. So when we all came to the conclusion, we did in fact decide it was a battery. I try to call his doctors office but they had just left for lunch. I called poison control not sure what prompted that as I have never called them ever. The lady was wonderful on the phone and told me that if it is stuck it is very serious and can burn him. If it went to his stomach he is fine. She suggested that we take him in for a simple reassurance x-ray. I decide this is what we needed to do. I get in the car a little frazzled at how my child had that in the first place and how he swallowed it. One thing to remember is Cameron has had his tonsils out so his mouth opens very wide and that his how in the first place it went down so easily without him choking on it. So we get to Urgent Care and they put us straight into a room and the dr came in to examine him. The X ray tech was out to lunch and would be back in 15 minutes. There was another little boy that needed to a x-ray to so after them we went down to X ray. The tech took the first picture and said “okay are we positive he swallowed something?” I said well he said he did. Now another thing is every now and again Cameron would be very uncomfortable. I would just simply tell him to relax. At this point I said “Cameron did you swallow something? Cameron if you are not telling the truth I am gonna be so upset not sure what I am going to do but something.” Cameron says “yes, Mom I know I did. Maybe, maybe I pooped it out” He had heard the dr say that. I said “no, impossible you have not gone to the bathroom.” Tech comes and gets one more pic and comes out and says “Alrighty then lets go head back upstairs to the doctor. Its there and hes not lying Mom” Got in the elevator and bless this man said its okay you don’t need to cry but you can. Yes, he was talking to me as the flood gates were opening up. The doctor comes in in just absolute amazement…..holds it up and says I have never seen anything like it before. SO he calmly told me that we needed to ambulance Cam to the ER at Valley. I asked if I could please just drive him and he told me the reasoning is because if it dislodged or anything we had not medical supervision. So we waited for the ambulance Cameron got in and I decided (a tough decision) that I needed my car so the medic told me to go ahead and go. I beat the ambulance down there but they have this horrible security measure (only for me at the moment) that his name has to be on the screen so poor judgment as I should have rode down with him but anyway they wouldn’t let us go back. He was being treated very well when we got there. The doctor came in right away and said this is a really serious matter and that he had a stat call into a gastroenterologist. He comes back minutes later and tells us that He is not a pediatric one so Cameron needs to be transferred again to Swedish or Children’s and they were trying to get him to swedish but they had to find the right doctor. So minutes later again they confirm he is going to Swedish and the dr would be waiting. They will let us know when the ambulance is due to arrive. In the mean time they started his IV and put him on some monitors. Davia asked Cameron if she could pray for him and he said yes. So Davia and I went each on one side of the bed and she prayed. It was very simple she said basically…..Father God we ask you to care for Cameron now and that you resolve this issue quickly so Cameron can sleep in his own bed tonight. Now at this time I did not realize how many people at that moment were praying. We had a lot as I had friends with chain prayers going and Brandon was sending out FB messages and emails and my Aunt had sent out an email to my family. So back to Davia just prayed. No more than 10 min later Cameron had to go potty….so we went potty and He wanted to spit so he went to garbage and spit and then he threw up a little…Me thinking that was odd there was no reason so he did a little more. I looked at it and saw nothing. We went back to the room and Davia looked at me and said well did you look and I said yes. Then Cam says WOW I feel so much better and She looks at me and takes off for the bathroom. That dear sweet woman bare hands and all dug through that garbage and found that battery!!!! The doctor came in and said this was great. But we  still might need to transfer him to be seen. Comes back a few minutes later and says here the deal……Put Cam on two medications and she wants to see him in 2-3 days. He wanted another X ray and we could leave. Two hrs later we were free and clear on our way home. I got to see a miracle happen and witness the power of prayer and the power of our God in full control. The amazing things that happened I will never forget…..Thank you all for your prayers at that time and thank you Davia for being by my side. I am truly blessed to have you all In my life. If this doesn’t have miracle and God’s blessing all over it then I do not know what would!! Goodnight from my home to yours!
