It all Started a Little Like This

Twas the day before Christmas and everything was certainly stirring! I know, what a cliché (sorry)….It was Christmas Eve and the kids were all ready for Christmas. The day was fun with some Christmas movies here and there. The day went on and we went to Christmas Eve service. We had a simple just us family day. There was one thing missing. The Christmas cheer. The family surrounded around and the games, soup, and laughter everywhere. My grandma! I didn’t realize how different it would be to celebrate Christmas this way. The loneliness, the heartache that came is something I can not describe. So trying so hard to make this Christmas bright was a challenge because to my little ones it was just another day at home. They had fun and the anticipation of Christmas morning was heard. But it was just another day. No loved one stopping by, no having to go anywhere and say hi. Then it brought me to I miss my brother this year. See the true thing is I only have one sibling to share this holiday with and I think he will never skip again! We made a new tradition of taco’s for Christmas Eve, oh yes, simple yumminess. The children all stirred as we put them to bed. Courtney not wanting to sleep in her own bed. Now mama had to bribe and tell her a white lie. Santa only comes if your snug in your own little bed. Cameron he couldn’t get to sleep. We waited and waited for him to fall fast asleep! The night was restless and not all calm. They came in my room around 1100. Put them back to bed and asleep they went but not before Cameron said…..Has he come? Will you check? Another white lie as I said No not yet!!! Soon I finally drifted to sleep. I tossed and I turned and the night stood still. Finally the alarm went off at 540 am. I needed my coffee before the festivities began. Cameron awoke at 610 am I told him go back to bed till 630 and we will begin! The day started bright got Brandon and Tyler up. They all looked at Santa’s delight. Another day and Christmas is over. The kids they played all day. Legos, games, dress up and more. Squeezed in the Smurfs movie and a 20 min zzzzz for me. The dinner was yummy and simple again. Ham, Corn casserole, corn, mashed potatoes and rolls. Topped off with Pumpkin pie and Red Velvet cheesecake. A bath here and there and warm new jammies and tutus are being worn. The Kids are finally fast asleep as another Christmas is done. One thing we did not forget to do is remember. We remember what it is all about and the baby in the manger that changed it all. For it is CHRISTmas  indeed but His birthday. Happy Birthday Jesus! We are so thankful for the gift of life and the gift of forgiveness and eternal life. Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight!
